Chris Hemsworth on his antagonistic role in Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga

Chris Hemsworth accepted his “exit” from being the hero in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

The 40-year-old star plays antagonist Dementus in the Mad Max prequel and loved getting the chance to be a villain after playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in several films.

Hemsworth told Entertainment Weekly: “It was a real change, and it was nice… I was about to say it was nice not to wear a cape, but… I had a cape in this movie. And it’s red. turns red. The absurdity of that.

“I found a wonderful starting point: playing the villain, transforming and inhabiting a completely different physique was a lot of fun. I loved it.”

Despite his joy at being the bad guy, Hemsworth admitted that he was afraid before taking on the role and that he lacked the “confidence” he usually has before working on a major film.

He said: “I don’t really have control over the character. And I don’t have as much confidence as I would normally have going into this.”

Hemsworth was able to overcome his fears by writing journal entries as Dementus and believes it is beneficial for artists to take on roles that require them to challenge themselves.

The Extraction star explained: “I’ve heard people talk about how you want to choose roles that scare you. And, yeah, it’s kind of an actor thing.

“But I think it was a good thing. I think it forces you to dig a little deeper. And the challenges, the adversity, that’s where growth happens. I feel like I learned more on this movie than anything else I’ve done.” what was asked of us all and how challenging it was, in a wonderful way.
