There is still no progress in talks with Enyimba for Finidi to resume as new coach of Super Eagles

The date on which Finidi George will take over as coach of the senior Nigerian national team is still unknown as his current team, Enyimba, are not interested in letting him leave the club as soon as possible. OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Finidi was announced as the new coach of the Nigerian senior team by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), a position he held until now as interim coach. He was previously an assistant to José Peseiro, who left his job in February when his contract expired.

We exclusively learned that Enyimba, who is chasing a second consecutive league title, is not against the appointment and it will certainly allow him to fulfill his dream of becoming the Super Eagles coach, however, he wants the NFF to do the right thing for him . being released.

“No one from the NFF told us about their plans for Finidi, so we did not make any plans for a coach to take his place or replace him. We saw it on the Internet like most of you. “We are now in talks about when he will be released,” a team source said. OwnGoalNigeria.com.

“We (Enyimba) are not against Finidi taking over as coach of the Super Eagles, but we have to do the right thing so as not to be left on the receiving end. With us, Finidi still has one year left on his contract, so conversations have to be held about it. Don’t forget that we are also in the fight for the League title,” he stated.

Reacting to the above, an NFF source said they did not approach Enyimba earlier because they wanted to keep the appointment secret due to pressure and interest from certain quarters in the job. However, she said talks are progressing well and a compromise will be reached soon.
