When FC Barcelona takes on Girona in their next La Liga match, one of the players who will attract a lot of attention in this match will be Spanish centre-back Eric García.

The Spaniard joined Michel’s team in the last summer transfer window on loan, and has become one of the key pieces of the Girona team that punched above its weight this season to compete for the league title.

Although the La Liga title has all but slipped from Girona’s grasp, there is no doubt that García has proven his worth this season. He has amassed 2,297 minutes this season in 28 appearances, and has also scored 3 goals in the process.

But still, his stay at the other Catalan club might not end for long, as He himself confessed his plans to return to Barcelona and compete for a spot on the team recently.

It was not SPORT As reported, the Barcelona coach has also confirmed in a press conference that his team plans to make room for the Spaniard for next season. In this regard, the Barcelona coach stated:

“Yes, the idea is that (Eric García) has a place. He had it this year too; the intention was not for him to leave. He had to leave for reasons of financial fair play, I said it at the time. I think he could have helped us, but the circumstances were what they were. Yes, the idea is for him to return.”

García has played at a high level during this loan season and there is no doubt that he deserves the opportunity to play for Barcelona again.

However, as Xavi himself mentioned, he had to leave last season due to FFP issues, which have not yet been resolved by the club, and Barcelona will have to find a way to fit his salary into their limited salary cap so that he can go back.
